Sailing

Today I was lucky enough to go sailing in Sydney Harbour. It was a long weekend to celebrate the Queen's Birthday (mind you, the Queen's birthday is in April, and Australia doesn't even technically have a queen) so my friend Eva and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and spent the day on a lovely 36-foot yacht.

As much as I appreciated the experience, I have to be honest -sailing is not for me. It's a lot of work! I was completely worthless in any attempt to pull ropes and turn levers, but luckily I did an excellent job making sure my glass of champagne was full at all times. Hey, we all have our talents right?

In all seriousness, it was a really fantastic day and a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. We had a gorgeous lunch of smoked trout, salad, feta, and sourdough bread, with coffee and Tim Tams for dessert! I love that it's the second coldest month of the year and we still are able to spend an afternoon out on the water relaxing and soaking up the rays. How cool is that? It's a bit different than New York, where the last boat I stepped foot on was probably a filthy ferry! :)
