We spent the first day getting to know the area and trolling along the Palm Cove esplanade. The weather wasn't fantastic, so we were fine enjoying an evening of rest and relaxation before a big day on the reef the following morning.
We were up early as the bus was waiting for us around 7am. We rode back to Cairns and boarded a 80 person cruiser for our trip out onto the ocean. I had no idea how far the reef was from the mainland and it took us a few hours before we got out to our first snorkeling spot. We got to enjoy three different parts of the reef, all electric with thousands of fish of every colour and kind. We even got to swim alongside a giant sea turtle! It was a really cool day and one we won't soon forget.
We spent the third day soaking up some sun on Palm Cove Beach, trying to keep our energy high for a trip to the Daintree Rainforest the following morning. We were up bright and early again the next day, with a full itinerary of crocodile hunting on the Daintree River and looking for wildlife deep in the rainforest. We also got to meet some friendly kangaroos and visited Cape

Our flight didn't leave until late in the evening on Wednesday, so we got to enjoy a stunning, sunny day in the pool at Mango Lagoon. It was a really great way to end a fantastic holiday, and one that we hope to be able to repeat very soon.
