Australia Day

Australia Day was on Monday and the entire country closes down shop and comes out to celebrate. The day marks the arrival of the first fleet landing in Port Jackson in 1788 and there were a ton of things to do in Sydney. The weather was a little gray in the morning, but we got to watch the tall ships race across Sydney Harbour and then went over to Hyde Park where everyone was eating and drinking under the trees. It started raining quite a bit, but people still seemed to enjoy themselves. The rain didn't even put a damper on the fireworks that went off in Darling Harbour later that evening. Australians have great pride in this country and we can definitely see why!
